Armand Duplantis is the world’s hottest track and field athlete and his latest season is almost unparalleled. Mondo has won everything there is to win, and in the last year alone it has become WC gold indoors, EC gold outdoors and WC gold outdoors.
“I can not complain”
In addition, Armand Duplantis has bettered his world record, when he jumped a whopping 6.21 meters, and the fact is that he won every event he competed in last season, except one. Speaking of awards and prizes, another one came for Duplantis yesterday. Mondo was nominated to win the Athlete of the Year award, which is presented annually by the International Association of Athletics Federations. Duplantis won the award in 2020, and to no one’s surprise, he won the award again at a gala on Monday.
– It was not only important for me to raise the bar a few times, but I entered a year with the WC both outdoors and indoors. And those were the two titles I didn’t have since before. So I circled it on the calendar as the two most important things to me. Going into the WC and breaking the world record, I can’t complain about that, says Duplantis.

Turns into a goat
Armand Duplantis has now broken scores of records, both outdoors and indoors, as well as won… well, everything. Despite the fact that he is only 23 years old. After Duplantis won the award on Monday, Puma posted a video on Instagram, where it has over twelve million(!) followers, which makes everyone applaud loudly.
In the video, Duplantis is sitting on a pole vault mat, and when the camera suddenly pans away, then back, only a goat is there. The reason? In American, “Greatest of all time” is the best of all time, abbreviated as “GOAT”. It’s an epithet that Duplantis will be called many times to come, and it’s hard not to agree that he is the great GOAT of the pole vault.
