The reason for this is new directives from the EU regarding single-use plastics, which come into force in July this year. Then all disposable packaging with liquid must have a tight-fitting cap.

Arla started with the new corks at the dairy in Kallhäll outside Stockholm already in October. In February and March, the dairies in Linköping and Jönköping also started with the plastic caps, which then also reached customers in the southern parts of Sweden.

But Arla’s milk caps are not the same throughout the country, which P4 Seven-way previously reported on. In Stockholm and up the country, one cork applies, and in the southern parts of Sweden it is another.
