Fiat Panda is one of Italy’s leading people’s cars, and was built between 1980 and 2003 in around 4.5 million copies.

With a full battery, the little car made it 100 kilometers, which is not bad for an electric car from the early 90s.

However, the car did not go fast. The power in the original version was a modest 12 horsepower at 70 kilometers per hour.

In 1992, the car was updated under the name Panda Elettra 2, and then received an output of 23 horsepower.

Toyota RAV4 EV

Over the past ten years, many car brands have invested heavily in switching to electric cars, but Toyota has taken a more restrained approach.

During the late 90s, however, one of the market’s first electric SUVs was manufactured – long before the type of car became fashionable.

It was about an electric version of RAV4 which received the surname EV.

The first generation came in 1997 and was then only offered with leasing to authorities, municipalities and companies in the USA. The range was 153 kilometers and the power 67 horsepower.

From 2003 until the closure in 2004, the car could also be bought by private individuals, and a total of 1,484 examples of the car were sold.

A second generation of the car was produced between 2012 and 2014, and offered an output of 154 horsepower and a range of 166 kilometers.

Chrysler TEVan

Electric minibuses have only become common on the market in recent years, but this was certainly not the case in the mid-90s.

A real pioneer in the segment was Chrysler TEVanwhich was manufactured by Chrysler themselves between 1993 and 1995.

The car was based on the immensely popular Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Caravan minivans, and was sold almost exclusively to electric companies.

The car had a range of 130 kilometers, with an output of 65 horsepower and a top speed of a modest 110 kilometers per hour.

The price was translated into today’s monetary value of a full 1.8 million kroner, and consequently the car did not become very popular. A total of 56 examples were built, and today there are only 4 examples left.
