“What is Hamas?” and “How much do I get in electricity subsidy?”.
Here are the top Googlers in Sweden in 2023.
The year is coming to an end and Google is now publishing its annual summary of the most popular searches.
Among the news events, Israel’s war in Gaza dominates, with questions such as “Why are Israel and Palestine at war?”.
But the personal economy has also left its mark on Swedes’ searches. The electricity subsidy attracted great interest and many wanted to know how much money they would receive.
Marabou and Korans
This summer’s tragic fatal accident at Gröna Lund, the Russian Wagner Group and the top gang Kurdiska Räven are also found in the top ten of the search trends.
Other hot topics were Marabou, where many Swedes wondered why they should boycott the chocolate company. A lot of Swedes also asked themselves the question “Why do you burn the Koran?”.
On the entertainment side, country artist David Ritschard made a big impression – in connection with the collapse of Allsång at Skansen, he topped Swedes’ searches for people.
AI interests
The most sought-after sports profile was former soccer professional David Beckham, who during the year was current with a new documentary. But the women’s national team’s success in the World Cup also engaged with searches for national team players Zecira Musovic and Lina Hurtig.
In 2023, Swedes’ interest in AI also gained momentum, according to Google, which was shown by the basic question: “What is AI?”.
Even people who have gone out of time have had great search pressure, among them the presenter Patrick Grimlund, the popular artist Lasse Berghagen, the actor Matthew Perry and the police chief Mats Löfving.
