Here are the two buttons to activate for automatic cleaning

Are you fed up with bad smells in your washing machine, or laundry that comes out with marks? It will soon be a thing of the past thanks to these two buttons.

The washing machine is an essential appliance for everyday use. But like any household appliance, even if its purpose is to wash your laundry, it requires regular maintenance to function optimally. Over time, detergent residue, limescale, and even mold can accumulate in the drum, on the seals or in the detergent drawer, leading not only to reduced performance, less well-washed laundry, but also to the appearance of unpleasant odors.

While one solution is to clean your washing machine manually with white vinegar, there is an even simpler solution, little known to users. In fact, many modern washing machines have a self-cleaning function, specially designed to keep their internal components in the best conditions, thus helping to extend their lifespan and ensure efficient operation. Many people are unaware of their existence, or do not know how to use them.

The self-cleaning program is essential to prevent the accumulation of mold, dirt and unpleasant odors inside the drum. It is recommended to use this program regularly, as a clean drum not only improves the efficiency of the washing machine, but also ensures that the clothes come out cleaner. In addition, regular use of this feature can prevent technical problems in the long term, reducing the need for costly repairs.

Activating the self-cleaning program is easier than it seems. Usually, you have to press two buttons on the machine’s control panel simultaneously for a few seconds. These buttons depend on the washing machine model. Sometimes, these are the “intensive wash” and “wrinkle-free wash” buttons, or the A and B buttons that must be pressed simultaneously, or even in Samsung, the “Eco Drum Clean” program if your appliance has it. Refer to the user manual of your appliance.

Make sure your washing machine is empty of any clothes before starting the self-cleaning cycle. You do not need to use any detergent. This programme will increase the water temperature inside the washing machine to 70°C to kill bacteria that have settled in the drum and tub. If your washing machine does not have a self-cleaning programme, you can run the hottest programme without detergent and with the load empty. It is recommended to use this type of programme every one to two months, or approximately every 40 washes.
