Here are the questions about Ukraine USA want Sweden to respond to

The United States believes that Europe should take great responsibility when it comes to maintaining Ukraine’s security in the event of a coming peace settlement. The United States has sent out a questionnaire to European countries to find out details about what countries can provide for security guarantees to Ukraine.

“This will force Europeans to think, then it is up to Europeans to decide whether they actually respond to the questionnaire, or if they respond to it together,” Finland President Alexander Stubb told Reuters.

Six -point

The request from the United States was sent, according to Finanical Timesout earlier this week and is coming ahead of the tour to European capitals that Trump’s Ukrainian signature Keith Kellogg will now embark on.

According to Reuters, the document consists of six points and contains questions about what Europe’s countries can do to tighten the restrictions on Russia and what new sanctions can be introduced.

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte told the Financial Times on Saturday that he had not himself seen the questionnaire, but that Europe, regardless of the US request, must be clear about how to increase its efforts and jointly reach it.

Concern to share details

Many European governments are, according to sources to Financial Timesworried about already giving detailed answers to the United States about weapons, support and peacekeeping troops.

“The general feeling is that this is a good exercise when it comes to thinking about what everyone can offer, but that the answer to the United States should be collective,” a source told the newspaper.

V: “would be strange to give”

Håkan Svenneling (V), defense political spokesperson and member of the Riksdag’s NATO Elegation, has not seen US questions but thinks that Sweden’s answer should be synchronized with other countries.

– It would be a bit strange to provide very specific information in this situation, he says, pointing out that there is no peace agreement yet.
