Around one million species on earth are threatened with extinction, and in all cases humans are responsible.
But there are also a large number of species that benefit from us humans, and that would be rare without us. And there may be as many as the endangered species.
– The species that have benefited by far the most from human activities are humans’ pets, says researcher Torbjörn Ebenhard.
That a large number of species benefit from us humans, move and increase has many negative effects and few positive ones.
– Many of the invasive alien species are directly harmful to the human economy. They are pests in agriculture and forestry, in warehouses, destroy crops. But they are also a major threat to native species, says Torbjörn Ebenhard.
