Camping is more popular than ever. Last year, over 16.5 million guest nights were registered at campsites around Sweden – and this year it is estimated that that number will be even higher.
But for the inexperienced camper, there are a few things to keep in mind before departure.
For example, did you know that an innocent gesture, like hanging a red ribbon on the caravan or motorhome, can signal that you want physical closeness?
– Red ribbon tied on the caravan means that you are looking for companionship of a sexual nature. And green ribbon tied on the caravan means welcoming new acquaintances on a friendly level, an experienced camper has said in an interview with The Express.

14 campsites in Sweden get 5/5 stars – which ones?
SCR Svensk Camping has classified Swedish campsites since 1996. This year, 14 campsites around Sweden have reached the full pot, and received five out of five possible stars.
The number of stars is awarded after an overall assessment, where the facility’s service, comfort level and range of activities have been taken into account, among other things.
– It takes a lot of goal-oriented work to succeed in getting five stars. The range of services and the facility’s standard must be of a very high standard, says Martin JuhosCEO at SCR, in an article on the website.

These are Sweden’s WORST campsites – according to the guests
But the natural thing is of course that there are campsites that get worse reviews from the guests as well.
“DO NOT GO HERE. BETTER SLEEP ON THE STREET,” writes a guest who visited one of the campsites that received the lowest guest rating.
“WARNING. Really nice little camp. But incredibly inhospitable owners who scared the kids,” says a review of another campsite.
