It is the foundation Skogsällskapet that each year nominates the gnarliest or gnarliest trees in landscapes around the country. This year it was a couple of recent birches that received the award in Jämtland and the photographer will be awarded with a symbolic award.
– We have tried to reflect as broad a representation of different types of “kookiness” as possible among the winning entries. Jämtland’s trees are two birches in Hillsand, in the municipality of Strömsund, which we thought looked very funny – and quite equivocal -, says Karin Fällman Lillqvist, head of sustainability at the Forest Society, in a press release.
A winner in the Härjedalen region has not been able to be chosen as no entries were submitted to the competition.
