Individuals who are described as mentally strong are capable of achieving great things, with total self-control. Do you think this description could fit you? To find out, know that this type of person shares four qualities, described by psychology professor Steven C. Hayes.
They are successful in their lives and show resilience: mentally strong people are often described this way. But it’s difficult to judge one’s own person, to know whether or not one falls into this category. According to Professor Hayes, who specializes in psychology, there are four qualities that these individuals share.
They are open to new possibilities
Mentally strong people don’t limit themselves to just one lifestyle. They are rarely constrained by preconceived notions about how to think, act or be. On the contrary, they do not impose rules on themselves and are therefore more open and freer to choose.
Which means they are comfortable exploring new opportunities. And generally not the simplest or the one that goes without saying. As a result, they also experience more situations throughout their lives.
They choose what works
Mentally strong people are not only open to new opportunities, but are more likely to choose ones that work.
This may seem simple, but it involves several subtleties. For example, having your final objective in mind or having sufficient perspective on yourself to assess whether you are truly moving towards your objectives or not.
They develop good habits
Becoming mentally strong is not something you acquire overnight, it is a constant pursuit. You must constantly take action to progress toward your self-imposed goals.
And only by transforming daily actions into real habits can you improve your mental abilities and your life, in general.
Good in his body, good in his head!
They adapt to circumstances
Finally, mentally strong people adapt easily to circumstances. They do not wait for ideal conditions to work in their favor and are more resourceful.
For example, they accurately assess the situation based on their own capabilities in order to best adjust their actions and expectations accordingly. In short, they adapt easily and repeatedly, if necessary, whatever the situation.
