In summer, during periods of high heat or heatwave, we think we are doing the right thing, but very often, we get into bad habits. Here is a little guide to the mistakes not to make at home when it is hot.
Take a cold shower
Even though you might want to cool off with a cold shower, it is unfortunately counterproductive. It may feel good at first, but your body will not tolerate such a temperature difference and will warm up more quickly because it will struggle to maintain a body temperature of 37°C. Instead, take a hot or lukewarm shower to regulate your body temperature. Tip: To cool down, splash your forearms and the back of your knees with cool, but not ice-cold, water.
