Parking the car is not free, especially not if you are in one of Sweden’s big cities.
In Gothenburg, the hourly rate is up to SEK 30.
In Malmö, the hourly price is at the corresponding levels, up to SEK 30.
But in Stockholm the prices are of a completely different nature. There, the costs for parking the car are up to SEK 55 per hour.
And it can be more expensive – in more places.

The traffic office in Stockholm wants to expand two toll areas, namely the two most expensive – toll areas 1 and 2.
In a proposal, no increases are presented, but that the borders can be widened and thus mean that more streets end up in more expensive areas, writes the local newspaper Middle.
Stockholm City Traffic Council, Lars Strömgren (MP), tells the paper that there are winners if the proposal goes through.
– The big winners are the motorists who today drive round and round looking for a parking space.
If the proposal is approved, a total of 3,250 visitor parking spaces will receive a higher fee, every 250 parking spaces will be moved from rate area 2 to 1 and nearly 3,000 spaces will be moved from rate area 3 to rate area 2.
For Mitti, Strömgren states that the driving force behind wanting to get the proposal through is not the revenue it could bring in, which is estimated to be SEK 20 to 30 million per year.
– It is so that Stockholm can be a child-friendly, green and vibrant city, he says.
