Here, 320 athletes compete in crossfit in Eskilstuna: “I love it”

Crossfit, the sport that mixes strength and cardio training on time, has grown ever larger in Sweden. One of the country’s biggest competitions is taking place this weekend in Eskilstuna.

– This is a sport that suits everyone. I am 60 years old and there are people here who are 10–15 years old, says Christel Nilsson, who has traveled from Kristianstad to participate.

A total of 160 two-person teams participate during the two competition days in the Stiga Sports arena – beginners on Saturday and more advanced on Sunday.

In the clip above, you can see and hear some of the contestants tell you how to get really good at Crossfit.

The training form was invented in the USA in the 1980s, but over time has been shaped into a brand with approved gyms all over the world. In 2007, they started competing in the sport and a few years later the first open championships started where any exerciser can sign up.
