IJsselmeervogels was not good, but deservedly won, according to goal scorer Junior van der Velden. “It wasn’t really fantastic, but we played better football after the break, more neatly.” Before halftime the Vogels were occasionally threatening, but they did not create any opportunities. “If we play it out better, we can score a few times in the first half,” says Van de Velden, who eventually headed in the liberating 1-0. “It doesn’t matter who makes it, but for me personally it’s nice that I make it.”
