For the past decade, Henry Cavill has been in the DC Extended Universe as the Man of Steel, saving the world. In 2013, he donned Superman’s cape for the first time. Afterwards he returned for several crossover films back, starting with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice all the way to Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
However, his big Superman comeback turned out to be a bitter failure. Although the post-credit scene of Black Adam teased an epic duel between the DC giants, a few weeks after the cinema release it was clear: Cavill is not returning to the DC Universe as Superman. The entire franchise is being rebooted.

From DC to Marvel: Instead of Superman, Henry Cavill could now play Wolverine in the MCU
Cavill’s DC era is over, but his Marvel era is just beginning. Fans have been speculating for months that he would take off in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) after Superman left. Now there is one promising rumor: As Giant Freakin’ Robot has learned, Cavill’s MCU debut is coming in just a few months.
Allegedly, Cavill has a small role in Deadpool & Wolverine aka Deadpool 3. According to the rumor, he is playing one Multiverse variant of Wolverine. Which one exactly is unclear. But apparently he’s wearing a long, brown coat. Giant Freakin’ Robot also writes that it is “Cavill’s First Appearance in the Marvel Universe.”

Of course, this has not yet been officially confirmed. So the rumor holds true enjoy with caution. However, Giant Freakin’ Robot refers to a source that was already correct about the casting of Linda Cardellini in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It will become clear by the time the film opens at the latest whether the matter is successful.
But the rumor definitely sounds plausible. Other stars have recently been considered for cameo appearances in Deadpool & Wolverine. Especially when it comes to Wolverine variants, one made a difference another exciting name the round: Daniel Radcliffe. Maybe we’ll soon see Harry Potter and Superman as X-Men veteran Logan.
When does Deadpool & Wolverine start in cinemas?
Deadpool & Wolverine opens on July 24, 2024 in German cinemas. It is the 34th MCU film and the only one from the franchise to be released in theaters this year. If you want to see even more X-Men adventures, you can stream the animated series X-Men ’97 on Disney+ from March 20, 2024.
