Henry Cavills great sci fi epic saved at the last second

“In the darkness of the distant future there is no peace.” This is one of the sayings that defines the mood of the famous Warhammer 40,000 franchise (also Warhammer 40K or simply W40K). Over-fan Henry Cavill has long wanted to publish the extremely dark and war-oriented sci-fi universe as a series. Now Amazon has finally given the starting signal.

Amazon’s Warhammer series starring Henry Cavill was just 3 weeks away from failure

According to Deadline sources, writers have been developing ideas for a W40K series in recent months, which Amazon is now accepting green light has granted. So far all that is known is that Cavill is on board as an actor and producer. The star celebrated the new status quo with an Instagram post a few hours ago:

To celebrate some Warhammer news, I went on a pilgrimage to the place where I was over 30 years ago Bought Warhammer models for the first time have: The “Little Shop” on my home island of Jersey. My incredible team and I worked on concepts together with the brilliant minds at Games Workshop, looking for approaches to the enormous size of the Warhammer world. Together we went through countless figures and have read many old texts. Our efforts finally got us opened a fantastic place, from which we will build our universe. The [Vorgesetzten] at Amazon and Games Workshop have agreed.

Warhammer 40,000 is a franchise from the tabletop game producer Games Workshop, which has now grown significantly through video games and animated films. It is set in the dark future of the 41st millennium, where the Empire of Mankind is waging an endless, grisly war against a variety of enemies. These include orcs, the horror figures of the Chaos Space Marines and the alien monsters of the Tyranids.

Confirmation from Cavill and the producers is coming not a second too soon: As we have already reported, an approach for the W40K series had to be found by the end of the year: otherwise the deal between Amazon and Games Workshop would have collapsed, thus destroying the previous work on the project.

When is the sci-fi series coming to the Warhammer 40,000 universe?

As Cavill suggests in his Instagram post, it’s for concrete information is still too early. Accordingly, one can only speculate about a start date for the series.

Not only does it need a showrunner, a finished script and a full cast before release, the notoriously busy Cavill also needs to clear his schedule, franchise fan or not. And then the actual filming of the series follows, which could be followed by longer post-production with a view to opulent sci-fi locations. We therefore calculate no earlier than the end of 2026 with a start.
