Henry Cavill still dreams of a role that he wanted to play 19 years ago

Henry Cavill has already starred in many successful films and portrayed well-known characters. However, one was denied him.

Henry Cavill has already landed some big and important roles. Over the course of his career, he has embodied Superman, been part of Mission Impossible and played his way into the hearts of gaming fans as Geralt of Rivia.

However, there is still one role that Cavill hasn’t had the chance to play, and one that he’s still interested in after many years.

Henry Cavill has now given up the role of the Witcher – see the trailer for the fourth season with Liam Hemsworth here, which was only moderately well received by fans:

Which character is it about? Cavill is British and interested in action-packed films, but at the same time he can appear elegant and charming. Wouldn’t that make him perfect for James Bond?

The actor thought something like this around 19 years ago when a new actor was being sought for the legendary agent. Cavill really wanted to play the role and went to an audition.

There he met director Martin Campbell, who was supposed to shoot Casino Royale. The actor was supposed to appear in a scene from one of the old films with Sean Connery. He should step out of the bathroom wearing only a towel. Cavill tells MensHealth about this casting:

I remember the director, Martin Campbell, saying, “Looking a bit chubby there, Henry.” I didn’t know how to train or diet. And I’m glad Martin said something because I respond well to the truth. This helps me get better.

Cavill was rejected, among other things, because of his physical shape. Daniel Craig was given the role in his place and initially caused quite a stir. After all, he was blonde and didn’t fit the classic image of Bond.

Cavill has been doing this before, and to this day he still dreams of playing the role. He can now demonstrate his physical fitness. If he were given the chance to embody 007, the actor wouldn’t have to think twice.

Will Cavill get the role? Daniel Craig has had his day as Bond and it is currently not known who will play the character next. However, it is unlikely that Henry Cavill will receive the confirmation. On the one hand, at 41, he is already a bit too old – he would have to play the role for a few years, maybe even decades.

On the other hand, he is very popular as an actor and has already portrayed cinematic icons such as Superman. Traditionally, those responsible for the Bond films do not rely on the actors that everyone already knows and loves. The actor is currently very busy again: Henry Cavill is not only making Warhammer 40k – he is now also making a film about another nerd project
