According to Variety, director Matthew Vaughn and star Henry Cavill discussed their new action comedy Argylle on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. The actor said that sex scenes were often superfluous for him and that the audience’s mental cinema should be stimulated more:
I don’t understand them – I’m not a fan. There are circumstances where a sex scene is actually beneficial to a film and not just to the audience, but I think nowadays they are sometimes overused.
Cavill certainly believes that sex scenes can also enrich a film by advancing the plot. Still, he thinks imagination is stronger than explicit bedroom action.
