To be on the safe side, I shaved my moustache. Just the moustache.

If you didn’t recognize it right away: Henry Cavill’s caption is a little dig at a Superman controversy from his time in the DC Universe. In 2017, Cavill had to return to the set of Justice League for reshoots. This overlapped with production for Mission: Impossible 6 – Fallout, for which he was contractually obliged to wear a mustache that he was not allowed to shave off.

The result: Henry Cavill shoots all of his new Superman scenes with disturbing facial hair, which had to be laboriously retouched using CGI in post-production and caused some strange (disturbing) moments in the finished film.

Henry Cavill fell ill after his appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine

Henry Cavill didn’t hesitate for a second to accept a role in the MCU. His performance as a muscle-bound and cigar-smoking Wolverine, however, had unforeseen consequencesas director Shawn Levy reveals in an interview with the New York Times (via Independent ):

I remember hearing the next day that Henry had a stomachache because he inhaled cigar smoke for eight hours had, but he didn’t hesitate even once.

Even though the cameo is less than a minute long, it is one of the funniest meta-highlights of the film. The idea for Cavallrine came about shortly after it was announced that Cavill would not return as Superman in the future and that his role would be recast for James Gunn’s DC reboot. It is not without reason that Deadpool assures his Wolverine variant in the film: “We will treat you so much better than the sh*t next door

Deadpool & Wolverine has been in German cinemas since July 24, 2024. It is not yet known whether Henry Cavill will be seen again as an alternative Wolverine in the future.
