Henry Cavill is often the right man at the wrong time in his career. First he was too young for his beloved James Bond role, then too old. And even before his big Superman breakthrough in Man of Steel, colleague Ryan Reynolds snatched a popular DC role from him. Luckily, one might say. According to reliable media site The Hollywood Reporter, Studio Warner looked to Cavill for the superhero role, but also Bradley Cooper and even Justin Timberlake, among others. At the end the green universe cop suit went to Reynolds.

At first he must have been very happy to finally get his foot in the door of the multi-billion dollar superhero film business. By the time the movie hits the cinemas, at the latest, his mood will have changed. The film was panned by critics (via Metacritic) and turned into a colossal financial flop (via Box Office Mojo).

Cavill was probably glad to have escaped the catastrophe in time. Reynolds, on the other hand, couldn’t help but jump on the mockery bandwagon and teasing himself, the role and the film.
