The 3rd season of The Witcher is still a long way off when Netflix has already announced surprising news about the future of the fantasy hit. The series is getting a 4th season, which will be filmed with a new main actor. Henry Cavill is leaving the series and his replacement has already been chosen.

Henry Cavill makes The Witcher exit public via Instagram
According to Deadline, Liam Hemsworth will appear in season 4 Cavill’s role as Geralt of Rivia play in The Witcher. The star herself shared the news with her fans on Instagram:

Some news from the continent… My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been full of monsters and adventures, and unfortunately I will lay down my locket and swords for season 4. In my place, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will assume the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest characters in literature, I pass the torch with reverence for the time I have spent impersonating Geralt and with enthusiasm that Liam’s take on this most intriguing and nuanced man yet to see. Liam good sir there is such wonderful depth to this character, have fun diving in and see what you can find.

As a Witcher fan, I’m over the moon for the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia. Henry Cavill was an incredible Geralt, and I am honored that he hands over the reins to me and allows me to take up the Blades of the White Wolf for the next chapter of his adventure. Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m really looking forward to itto enter the world of The Witcher.
It is not known whether Henry Cavill is leaving The Witcher because his Superman future at DC is now becoming much more concrete. The 3rd season of The Witcher will be released in summer 2023. This year, fans can first watch the prequel series The Witcher: Blood Origin on Netflix from 25 December stream.
