Ludvig Åberg’s name is on everyone’s lips in the golf world.
Now he is celebrated to the skies in connection with his very first major.
– He is already complete as a golfer, says golf star Adam Scott to The Guardian.
The first golf major of the year is underway at historic Augusta and a Swede is in the lead role. When The Masters will be decided is mentioned Ludvig Åberg as a possible winner in his very first major competition.
Åberg is highly praised
That’s how quickly things have gone for the 24-year-old from Eslöv, who has only been a professional for a few years. But now he is celebrated to the skies during the prestigious major debut.
– He is already complete as a golfer. He has no weaknesses. Normally, it’s hard to point out who will succeed and who won’t, but when you see a guy like Ludvig, you just think: “He can’t miss!”. Nothing is stopping him from breaking through right away and winning a major. It can happen already now, says the golf star Adam Scottwho won the Masters in 2013, to The Guardian.

Åberg has already broken into the top 10 in the world ranking and has scored millions of kroner during his so far short professional career. He is predicted to have a brilliant future and the competitors are extremely impressed by the Swede’s progress.
– Åberg is a future world number one. He is the most impressive golfer I have seen since Rory (McIlroy), says the golf star Shane Lowry to the English newspaper.
Stenson’s words
Sweden’s leading golfer in modern times is also full of admiration for Ludvig Åberg when Henrik Stenson gives a powerful tribute to the countryman.
– He is very mature for his age and doesn’t get upset whether things are going well or badly, Stenson tells The Guardian and believes that Åberg can become one of Swedish sports’ biggest giants.
– Hockey, football and skiing are strongly rooted in Sweden, so golf is a little behind there. But it all depends on how dominant you become in your sport. If Ludvig would become as dominant as Björn Borg, Ingemar Stenmark or Zlatan Ibrahimovic, but in golf, why couldn’t he become as great as them in that sense?

Åberg enjoys that the fine words come from Stenson in particular. The man who won the British Open in 2016 has been Ludvig’s big idol growing up.
– Stenson was the biggest we had when I was growing up and he is still the biggest. When he won the British Open… It should almost be a national holiday in Sweden, says Åberg at a press conference.
