Without having played a minute, Hugo Larsson left the national team assembly prematurely.
Which has caused strong reactions around football Sweden.
Former coach Henrik Rydstrom believe that the schism between Hugo Larsson and the national team captain Jon Dahl Tomasson will find a solution in the future.
– Anything else would be strange, says Rydström when he was interviewed by Aftonbladet, Expressen and Sydsvenskan in connection with Malmö FF’s Tuesday training.
Larsson did not get playing time against Azerbaijan on Thursday and afterwards Jon Dahl Tomasson said that the 20-year-old needs to get better at hitting vertical passes.
Rydström’s words
The Skåne midfielder did not hide his disappointment and left the group already before Sunday’s match against Estonia with a “lighter feeling of injury”, which was no worse than Larsson training football with Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday.
– In the long term, you need to find a way to get Hugo into the national team again. Because he’s too good not to be in. We are still talking about a player who could be an engine in the national team for many, many years, says Rydström.
Rydström, who coached Hugo Larsson in MFF, until the move to Germany last year, thinks that the situation in the national team “got out of control”, but does not want to comment on right or wrong.
– What I find most unfortunate is that it appears that Hugo is disloyal and not a team player. But he is an incredible team player, he tells the newspapers.
