Henrik Lundqvist revealing about the NHL legend – it’s the best player “Henke” met on the ice: “Impressive to see”

One of the best goaltenders in NHL history.
But even Henrik Lundqvist has encountered his challenges, in the form of fantastic players.
– He could bring the whole team with him, says “Henke” in the podcast “The Steam Room”.

He is not only a great hockey icon in Sweden. Henrik Lundqvist is also well known and loved outside the Swedish borders, especially in the USA. This after spending 15 fine seasons in the NHL and becoming a club hero in the New York Rangers.

Fop in the comeback

Lundqvist planned to play one year with the Washington Capitals after his long stint with the Rangers. But there was never another NHL game for “Henke”. Due to a medical problem in the form of a heart defect, the goalie was forced to end his hockey career in the summer of 2021. A heart operation was performed during the same time, and another one will be needed for Henrik within the next 15 years.

After his career, Lundqvist has, among other things, started as a studio expert in the USA, and has made several investments in various companies.
Henke was recently inducted into the “Hockey Hall of Fame” in Toronto, as the eighth Swede of all time. In connection with the gala, a match was also played where the 41-year-old was back on the ice for the first time since the end of his career. Then he was opposed, among other things Peter Forsberg.

Lundqvist’s choice

Even during his professional hockey career, Lundqvist faced many talented players. And one was the best, according to Henke.
– I met Sidney Crosby often. There were a lot of games, even playoff games against him, and just his smarts and his drive. It was like he could bring the whole team with him almost every game, and it was impressive to see, he says in the podcast “The Steam Room”.

Sidney Crosby has also faced many talented players, and goalies, during his years with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Who would the center have wanted to face in the event of a penalty?
– I hope he would tell me. I don’t think he would tell me, says Lundqvist in the podcast.
