Henrik Lundqvist was forced to end his NHL career in the summer of 2021.
Now the Swede has posted a clip of how he is training on ice again. This has led many to speculate whether he would be able to play again.
“We miss the king. What a legend,” writes a user on X.
After a couple of nice years in Frölunda chose Henrik Lundqvist42, to try out an adventure in North America. He then became the first Swedish goalkeeper to go straight into an NHL team without having to take the detour via a farm team. Over the years he became one of the league’s best goalkeepers and he is forever remembered as a club legend in the New York Rangers.
The beats are in
Tragically, “Henke” was forced to end his career in the summer of 2021 – when he was released by the Rangers and just moved to the Washington Capitals – after suffering from heart problems. It turned out that he had a congenital heart defect that made the valves unable to keep the blood from going back into the heart. In the summer of 2021, he was forced to undergo heart surgery.
Since then, Henrik Lundqvist has acted as an expert in the New York Rangers’ own television channel and he has been seen in various contexts in the media. He still lives in New York with his wife Therese Andersson and their two daughters July and Charlie.

There seem to be many who dream of a comeback for “King Henrik” in the NHL. In the comments below the clip, many speculate how good he would have been if he had the chance in the world’s best hockey league again.
“Hank would still be better than half the goaltenders in the league,” writes one person.
“Maybe Hank can be our third goalie if we need,” writes another.
“Please New York Rangers, I’m begging you!” pleads a third.
“Still looks like he’s got a game or two in him. It’s a real shame that his career ended that way, he deserved to end on his own initiative,” someone comments.
