Henrik Lundqvist back in Tre Kronor after the heart problem

Goaltending icon Henrik Lundqvist has not played hockey since suffering heart problems in 2021.
Now it is clear that he will play for Tre Kronor again.

He is named Swedish hockey’s best goalie of all time. Henrik Lundqvist42, has won two SM golds with Frölunda, WC and Olympic golds with Tre Kronor as well as lots of individual prizes during his time in the New York Rangers. He is also the goalkeeper in the classics club who has won the most matches and kept the most clean sheets.

Sad news for Lundqvist

He was forced to end his career after it was discovered that he was suffering from a heart defect. At the time, he had just moved from his beloved New York Rangers to the Washington Capitals, but he never got to play for that club before quitting.

He played his last game in Tre Kronor during the 2019 Hockey World Cup, when Sweden went out in the quarter-finals against Finland.
– It’s boring, sour, heavy. Difficult to analyze when it’s just over, he told Sportbladet after the exit.
– I will be 38 next year and have two years left on the contract. I’ll see how long you play, how long you think it’s fun, he continued.

Now “King Henrik” is making an unexpected comeback in the national team. In connection with the first ice hockey games (Beijer Hockey Games) being played in the newly renovated Globe on February 6-9, Tre Kronor Legends will also face NHL Alumni in a charity match. Nicklas Lidström, Mats Sundin and Henrik Zetterberg will be in the Swedish squad together with Lundqvist – who is therefore playing his first game since he was operated on for his heart problems.
