Zlatan’s greatness
Over 24 years, Zlatan has brightened the lives of football lovers with one spectacular after another. It is hardly possible to count all the mighty dream goals, magical art numbers and, above all, absolutely world-class heels.

“Ibra” has offered the most during his football career and in the national team he is the all-time top scorer on the men’s side. When summing up Ibrahimovic’s career and the very best moments, it cannot come from that match against Italy in 2004.

Sweden is really badly at a disadvantage against the great nation Italy when, at the end of the match, Zlatan manages to turn an impossible situation into possibly the most beautiful goal of his career. By twisting your whole body, heel the ball in to make it 1-1 and shock both Italy and the entire football world with an incredible super goal.

In the midst of the joy, Zlatan also remembers the only word that teammate and attacking colleague Henrik Larsson managed to get out of him after witnessing the great deed.
“I ran away, completely crazy, and the whole team ran after me, just as crazy. I threw myself down on the grass and everyone jumped on me. Henrik Larsson shouted at me: “Enjoy!”. Just like that, as if he immediately understood the meaning and the greatness of it all”, says Ibrahimovic in his own autobiography “I am Zlatan”.
“Sure, the match ended in a draw. But it really felt like a win and we made it through to the quarter-finals against the Netherlands”.

1-1 against Italy was followed by the classic 2-2 match against Denmark and it took Sweden to the EC quarter-finals against the Netherlands. But the trip unfortunately stopped there after a penalty shootout for the Swedish national team, which had something really good going on.
