ALING SAUCE. On Sunday, Henrik, 15, was found dead in Alingsås.
His disappearance has engaged tens of thousands of Swedes – and now the family is thanking them for the support in a letter.

“Rest in peace, our beloved hockey star”, they write.

On Sunday evening at around 5.30 pm, 15-year-old Henrik was found dead, after having been missing since Monday afternoon. During the past week, many people have become involved in the disappearance.

Now the family chooses to thank for that support in a letter to the public. Aftonbladet has been in contact with relatives and has received Henrik’s family’s permission to publish the letter.

“Henrik’s relatives want to thank from the bottom of our hearts for all the help in the search for Henrik. We don’t know how to thank you enough,” they write.

At the moment, one person is suspected of murdering Henrik. He was arrested on Sunday after the police made findings during the search, which has been ongoing in Alingsås for the past week. In the letter, the family thanks the police in Region West for their work.

“We also want to extend a huge thank you to the police in the West region for their fantastic work!”, they write.

In recent days, many have been waiting for information about what happened. Now the family describes the feelings after Henrik was found dead on Sunday evening.

“There is great relief in us that Henrik has been found, but it leaves a big void in all of us. We are grateful that he has been found and our hope is to find out what happened, as there are so many cases where the person is never found or where relatives never get closure,” they write in their letter to the public.

“Our beloved hockey star”

Henrik has been described by family and other relatives that Aftonbladet has been in contact with as a happy and social person, with a burning interest in hockey. He played in Frölunda Hockey Club’s junior team.

The family has also asked that a picture of him in a hockey suit be published with this letter.

“There is now an enormous need for our ice hockey professional. Now we hope that Henrik gets to meet his mother up there among the angels. Heaven has received the finest angel,” they write.

The letter ends with an appeal for peace and quiet. The family now wants to mourn in peace.

“We in the family are now grieving something incredible. And we wish to be left alone so we can grieve together. Rest in peace our beloved hockey star. Always loved, never forgotten.”
