Increased sales for Hemtex

Despite inflation and a depressed financial situation for many, the Hemtex chain is still doing well. According to Today’s Trade Norska Kid, which among other things owns Hemtex, increased its revenue in the first quarter of 2024.

In the Swedish market, Hemtex will have increased its sales by 14.3 percent during the first months of 2024.

But despite the increased sales and plans to expand, there is one Hemtex store that has not been doing so well lately.

Hemtex in Värnamo has had a hard time and will close again for good in the summer, which Värnamo News was the first to report on.

– Unfortunately, we will close the store, we are doing it because we can no longer get the business together. We have been fighting for a long time, but the customer base is not enough. It feels boring. We are in a fairly large expansion phase where we expand and open new stores. Of course, we would have liked to have been able to stay in Värnamo, says Hemtex CEO, Anders Lorentzon to Värnamo News.

The Hemtex store in Värnamo had struggled financially for a while, just like many stores in these times, and in the end it was not possible to run the store anymore.

“Hold on for quite a while”

But when exactly business started to go bad, Anders Lorentzon couldn’t really answer.

– There is no start date for it, it has been tough for a while. If you move around Värnamo, you just have to look at how it looks. We are not the first store to be forced to close. We held out for quite a while anyway, but exactly when it started was difficult to answer, he says Värnamo News.

The store’s only full-time employee will be reassigned and the rest of the staff will be unemployed with the closure.
