In Ukraine, during the Russian war of aggression, several women have been raped and many women have also become pregnant. OperationAid is in Mykolaiv to support and help, including by handing out emergency contraceptive pills to women who have been affected.
“Many women feel guilty”
The Swedish doctor Ellen-Elena Reinold and Ludvig Ramestam from the aid organization told about the situation.
– We try to help women in vulnerable areas, including with a women’s kit with basic hygiene products that we distribute. In war, women are almost twice as likely to be raped. The challenge is that the women feel enormous guilt and shame and find it difficult to talk about this, says Reinold.
