Helldivers 2 is so popular that the servers are already overloaded in the second weekend after launch and players are having problems getting into the game, as they complain on reddit. However, the developers are already working on a solution.
The new co-op shooter Helldivers 2 has become a surprise hit on Steam and PS5. Tons of shooter fans wanted to play the new co-op game this weekend, with Helldivers 2 breaking its own all-time record for simultaneously active players on Steam.
However, this now led to server problems: players on reddit complained that they couldn’t get into Helldivers 2. Now the developers promise that they are already working on a solution.
Here you can see a trailer for Helldivers 2:
“LET ME IN!!!!”
What did the community write? Several users posted a photo with the error message that the servers were currently full.
In addition, many players complained that they were currently being denied Helldivers 2. But other users also take it with humor.
So they post the meme in which a man stands in front of a locked gate and desperately wants to be let in or create their own fan art, like user Luftwaffle, to show how much Helldivers 2 is “suffering” from its success:
Here we have collected more user comments from reddit for you:
How many players are playing Helldivers 2? Because the shooter was released for both PC and PS5, not all player numbers can be viewed.
However, the data on SteamDB alone suggests how many people are playing the game this weekend. Helldivers 2 reached its all-time peak on Steam 16 hours ago with 333,827 people in the game. (As of February 18, 2024, 12:51)
The development studio Arrowhead Game Studios then spoke up via X.com on February 17, 2024.
The game makers explained that they were trying to increase server capacity to accommodate all players.
Nevertheless, there are capacity problems. However, we are already working on fixing the problem and hope to find a solution as soon as possible.
There was also an update via Discord today that the servers have now been capped at 450,000 players:
“There were issues with the server tonight due to a large number of players in the game at the same time. This resulted in some mission payouts failing, some players being kicked to their ships, or being logged out.
Our team is working around the clock to resolve these issues. While we have been able to mitigate some of the causes, we are still struggling to keep up with the scaling needed to accommodate all Helldivers.
Therefore, we had to limit the number of concurrent players to around 450,000 to further improve server stability. We will continue to work with our partners to increase the cap.
If you have problems with game progress, please restart the game so that everything can sync again. We thank you for your patience.“
