Harri Heliövaara and Henry Patten, who started working together at the beginning of April, have gone from victory to victory.
Finnish tennis doubles star Harri Heliövaaran new cooperation british of Henry Patten with has started in a downright brilliant way.
Long by Lloyd Glasspool Heliövaara, who played with him, tried cooperation at the beginning of the year of John Peers with, but nothing really came of it. So Heliövaara started playing with Patten at the beginning of April.
Already, the duo has taken two ATP tournament victories and one final place, as well as two Challenger tournament victories. Heliövaara and Patten have played 22 matches and won 19 of them. That’s a wild balance in the world of fours, where you play a lot of crosses.
Especially this week at the ATP tournament in Lyon, the Finnish-British duo took really tough scalps, for example the Belgians who recently won the Masters tournament in Monte Carlo To Sander / Joran Vliegen stayed on the legs. In the final match, Heliövaara and Patten emerged victorious from the Indian-French pair Yuki Bhambri/ Albano Olivetti 3–6, 7–6(7–4), 10–8, although Bhambri and Olivetti already led 6–3, 5–3.
– The opponents really played much better for almost two sets, but somehow we persevered in the match. The end was incredible, we went in different directions, but we stayed together better as a team, Heliövaara said.
Patten is a 198-centimeter hard-serving left-handed player who perfectly complements Heliövaara’s strengths.
– We have found each other at the right time. We have a really good team spirit on the field and we get along incredibly well off the field as well. Winning creates a culture of winning, self-confidence stays high, Heliövaara stated after the Lyon semi-final.
Heliövaara and Patten will get to the French Open, which starts on Sunday, from an excellent situation. Doubles games are not yet played on the first days of Grand Slam tournaments.
– After winning the tournament, it’s nice to go play the Grand Slam. We are one of the hottest Teams right now. I don’t think anyone wants to face us in the first rounds.
Rusuvuori gave up again
The situation of Finnish singles star Emil Ruusuvuore still raises questions. After a great start to the season, Ruusuvuori did not win a single match after February until mid-May.
Rosuvuori’s coach Federico Ricci told last week about the many challenges his protégé has had in recent months. There have been problems with, among other things, my back and illnesses. There were a lot of illnesses last fall as well.
Now there have been a couple of match wins, but this week Ruusuvuori left the Geneva tournament in the middle due to illness. He emphasized that it was only a precautionary measure considering the French Open, but considering the history of Ruusuvuori, it still sounds a bit worrying.
Rusuvuori starts its work in South Korea Soonwoo Kwon against. Kwon has been ranked 52nd in the world at his best, but has now made a comeback after a shoulder injury and is currently ranked 491st.
