Harri Heliövaara has advanced its British counterpart by Lloyd Glasspool with to the third round, i.e. to the top 16 in the men’s doubles of the Wimbledon tennis tournament. The pair defeated the Norwegian-American pair in the second round Casper Ruud/William Blumberg in five installments.
The sets of the match, which lasted almost two and a half hours, were in favor of the winners 6–1, 3–6, 6–3, 3–6 and 6–4. The evenly progressed fifth set ended after Heliövaara and Glasspool broke their opponents’ pass in the tenth game of the set.
– It was a really different match than in the first round. We got off to a good start, but then there were a couple of bad innings in a few sets. It was a terribly wavy match. Yes, even the difficult matches have to be won to win the competition, comments Heliövaara Tennisliiton on the pages (you switch to another service).
– Lloyd and I had to tease each other a lot. All’s well That ends well. But again in the third round in the Grand Slam, so there are really positive feelings.
Heliövaara and Glasspool dominated the opening set with two pass breaks, but the match became even as it progressed. Among his opponents, Ruud was ranked third in singles, but he lost in the second round to France, who played a high-quality game in the tournament For Ugo Humbert.
Heliövaara and Glasspool reached the third round of Wimbledon on grass last year as well. They are ranked 15th in the tournament.
In the third round, Heliövaara and Glasspool will face the second-placed Croatian pair in the tournament Nikola Mektic/Mate Pavic. Croatians won the Eastbourne tournament played before Wimbledon. In addition, the Croatians won the Queen’s Club grass tournament in June, when Heliövaara and Glasspool were the losing side in the final.
In addition, Mektic and Pavic are Wimbledon’s dominant doubles winning pair.
– Small differences made the difference at Queen’s. I believe we will improve from this, a tight match will surely come. Even the pre-favourites are under pressure, Heliövaara says.
