Helena Ekholm is leaving Vinterstudion after a full six years on the job.
Now the popular expert himself points out his replacement – and just makes everyone cheer.

It was last week that SVT announced that Helena Ekholm has made her last broadcast as an expert in Vinterstudion. Together with Björn Ferry, she has been a key part of SVT’s biathlon broadcasts, and she has always been one of the most valued experts in the country, during her six years on the job.
That is why she is leaving SVT
But now there will be no more broadcasts. SVT announced that Ekholm chose to invest in a civilian career, but what that actually meant has been unclear. But now, in an interview with Östersunds-Posten, she tells more about the resignation and why she chose to step away from the television job.
However, it does not appear that Ekholm takes such a big step away from biathlon. She has been given a completely new role at the Swedish Biathlon Federation, where she will have a role as project manager.
– It feels great fun. I have always thought that one day I would like to work at the biathlon association and the time feels right right now. It is the sport I love and it has always been close to my heart, she tells ÖP.
“Doesn’t have to be Einstein…”
For Helena Ekholm, the decision about how many travel days there will be during the winter was very important. Last winter, she felt that it is no longer worth being away from the family for so long.
– I have never wanted to sign a long contract with SVT, but I have had a two-year contract. It has depended a lot on the children. Then this offer came and then I felt, with this winter that has been, that I was ready, she says.
Björn Ferry is SVT’s second permanent expert in biathlon, but now speculation has already begun as to who will be Helena Ekholm’s replacement. And according to herself, the odds are low that it will be a real crowd favorite who steps into the Winter Studio, after ending her active career this spring.
– You don’t have to be Einstein to understand that Mona Brorsson is certainly a top candidate. I think she would do great, says Ekholm.
