Sweden took a very impressive victory against the USA.
Much thanks to goalkeeper Zecira Musovic’s great play.
But now former goalkeeper hero Hedvig Lindahl comes with clear criticism.
With the smallest possible millimeter margin, Sweden managed to defeat the big favorite USA and advance to the quarter-finals of the soccer World Cup. The national team goalkeeper became a big hero Zecira Musovic who really played big between the posts.
Musovic is praised
The Swede saved a total of 11 shots and kept a clean sheet for 120 minutes, which is a new record in the context of the World Cup. Almost entirely on her own, she managed to keep Sweden in the match and when the penalty shootout decided everything, the blue and yellow players went victorious to huge scenes of joy.

Many have praised Musovic since then and now the next voice joins the chorus of praise in the form of the former goalkeeping hero Hedvig Lindahl. She has been given between the posts for a decade but was kicked from the Swedish World Cup squad and had to stay at home this summer.

Lindahl’s criticism
Now she showers her goalkeeper colleague with words of praise – but also wants to give the Swedish team a clear criticism.
– Fantastic! I think it’s so impressive that she goes in and performs at that level against the world number one USA in such a pressure situation. Sweden is not playing its best match. I think we are a bit anxious, we couldn’t really be recognized, but what happens when we have a great defense and Zecira as the last outpost, says Lindahl when she is a guest on SVT’s “Morgonstudion”.
– That it leads to penalties and that it will be such a character-building victory for her. She silences the critics.

Hedvig Lindahl wants to see a clear improvement in the Swedish team for the next match as another top team awaits in the WC quarter-finals. When Sweden meets a Japan that has impressed so far during the championship – then it is not enough just for Musovic to have a good day.
– I still think we should lower expectations. You can have the best match of your life, but we can’t expect Zecira to always make matches like this, but now we have to improve our collective performance before the next match, says Lindahl in his harsh judgment about Sweden.
