Hedvig Lindahl is forced to apologize after the unexpected words about Sweden in the World Cup: “Worst in world history”

Sweden has exceeded expectations in the football World Cup.
Now Hedvig Lindahl is also forced to apologize after doubting her previous team.
“Don’t trust me,” she writes on social media.

After a tentative start to the soccer World Cup, our Swedish soccer ladies have really stepped up. Blågult did go through the group stage with three straight victories, but the game was tight and the goals mostly came from corners.

Lindahl’s words

When it matters most in the playoffs, Sweden has also shown its great potential. First, the world number one USA was defeated after a highly dramatic penalty shoot-out in the round of 16, and then the successful team Japan was knocked out 2-1 in the quarter-finals.

Many had counted out Sweden in the match against the hard-to-beat Japan, even Hedvig Lindahl didn’t even believe his former teammates. The former national team goalkeeper, who was tipped for this summer’s World Cup tournament, was convinced that Japan would win the match.
“I hope for a win for Sweden, but Japan is the favorite in this match. Winner: Japan”, was her analysis before the World Cup quarter-finals.

“Worst tip”

These were words that the 40-year-old had to eat when the Swedes excelled once again and beat the Japanese to reach the World Cup semi-finals.
“A good team is lucky. Shame on Japan who have been terrible in the tournament. I think they showed too much respect for Sweden and at the end when they had nothing to lose, you saw what they can do. Luck on Sweden’s side, it turned out,” wrote Lindahl on X immediately after the match.

Hedvig Lindahl also felt compelled to apologize after tipping Japan as the winner against Sweden.
“Possibly the worst tip in world history. Don’t trust me,” she writes on social media.

When there are now two matches left of the World Cup and Sweden is one of four teams fighting for the World Cup medals, the veteran goalkeeper instead chooses to place all his hopes on Blue and Gold.
“Congratulations girls! Now it’s going to be gold!”, she states on X ahead of Tuesday’s WC semi-final between Sweden and Spain.
