Hector Denayer who is the para swimming champion

Hector Denayer is taking part in his first Games and hopes to bring home a medal

Hector Denayer is aiming for at least one medal for his first Paralympic Games in Paris. At just 19 years old, the young Frenchman is already a bronze medalist at the world championships and a double silver medalist this year at the Europeans. Born without a finger on his left hand, Hector Denayer competes in SM9 and SB9 classifications, and specializes in the breaststroke and the 200m individual medley.

The one who trains in Dijon hopes to go for the gold medal in the 100m breaststroke had initially rather aimed for the Los Angeles Games in four years to perform, but his rapid development and his international podiums in the last two years have accelerated his promotion. To the point that leaving Paris without a medal would be almost a disappointment for him.
