Heavy sci fi accident that now has a much better version

The first part of a two-parter was only released in 2021 with Denis Villeneuve’s Dune euphoric voices and many enthusiastic reactions. Cable One airs Lynch’s failed adaptation of Dune tonight at 1:40 am.

David Lynch’s Dune was destroyed by massive studio interventions

Originally, Lynch wanted to make a three-and-a-half-hour film with his Dune version. However, the studio snatched the final cut from him and shortened the material to just under two hours. In this version, you can still occasionally see the beginnings of Lynch’s genius as well as impressive imagery.

The Dune film adaptation, which has been massively changed by the studio, still looks like a total half-baked accident, from which the director distances himself. Lynch’s first foray into blockbuster cinema for the masses has remained his only one to this day.

The first, two and a half hour part came to the cinema in 2021 and was celebrated with many enthusiastic voices. On Rotten Tomatoes, for example, Dune has an 83 percent positive review average. Filming of Villeneuve’s sequel is currently underway. Dune 2 should then on November 16, 2023 come to the cinema.
