Heavy rain and heavy thunder throughout the country

Storms with persistent heavy rain and thunder pull up over the country.
But next week cooler temperatures are expected.
– Classic Swedish summer, says TV4’s meteorologist Ulrika Elvgren.

Intense downpours and strong thunder are moving in over the whole of southern Götaland on Wednesday morning, and SMHI had previously issued a yellow warning for the entire area. According to Ulrika Elvgren, meteorologist at TV4, rain peaks of 50-70 millimeters can be expected.

– It is the same amount of rain that can last for the whole month of July, she says.

The storm, which moves slowly up towards the northeast, can already reach Stockholm during Wednesday evening, and then continue north during the end of the week.

– It will be wet, but it is still uncertain how much thunder there will be, says Ulrika.

Cooler temperatures to await

SMHI warns, among other things, of fires, flooded roads and disturbances in the electricity supply. According to Ulrika, there is a risk of an extended warning during the day. But there is no reason to stay indoors.

– On with the southwest and tough it out, she says.

Next week, the low-pressure weather will continue and we can count on cooler temperatures throughout the country – with elements of both sun and rain.

– It will be colder than it has been, but still not cold by Swedish standards. Simply classic Swedish summer weather, says Ulrika.
