Shortly after eight o’clock, an alarm came in about a fully developed fire in a garage in Granloholm in Sundsvall. The garage had eight doors, four of which were on fire.
– There is a risk of spreading because the building is large. Then it is close to other houses in the area, they are trying to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby apartment buildings, says Christer Stefansson, alarm and line operator in the Mittnorrland rescue region, during the evening.
At 11 p.m., the emergency services announce that they have begun dismantling the scene. There should no longer be a risk of explosion.
The fire will be monitored until Tuesday morning. During the night, more units had been able to leave and the situation calmed down.
Loud bangs from the fire
In connection with the fire, the police were alerted to loud explosions in the area. The police announce that everything indicates that the firecrackers come from the fire, as there is “a lot of explosions from it”, they write on their website.
