Heavy fire in Uppsala – alarms about bangs

The fire broke out just under a day after the national bomb protection harmlessly made the two suspected objects in the same house and initially it burned greatly with the risk of spreading.

No one injured

The rescue service later managed to gain control over the fire and prevent spread and no person was injured.

“It started burning in the same place that got two objects blasted during the night until Tuesday so it is clear that we review the connection,” says Magnus Jansson Klarin, press spokesman at the police region Mitt.

The police do not want to go out with exactly what type of objects were involved and during the day a technical investigation took place in the room where the objects were found.

Police technicians were still working on the scene when a severe fire broke out. Witnesses have told us about loud bangs heard in connection with the fire.

– We currently cannot answer whether something explosive or if it is the fire itself that was explosive, but we have not been able to find that anything detonated, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.

16-year-old arrested

On Tuesday, a 16-year-old was arrested on suspicion of placing the objects. He has now been arrested by prosecutors.

– It is remarkable that it happens so close to the previous event. The investigation may show what has happened, but we have reason to believe that the fire is landscaped and a preliminary investigation into serious murder fire has been initiated, says Magnus Jansson Klarin.
