There is a fire in a row of terraced houses in Flacksta in Eskilstuna, writes Ekuriren.
The alarm came at 00:15.
The emergency services have a large effort at the scene.
– We received information that there was a fire in a carport. By the time we arrived, it had spread to the townhouse itself as well. So we have a fully developed fire in a terraced house consisting of five apartments, says the fire service’s on-duty officer Henke Dewon-Thorén to Ekuriren.
No one should be injured.

At least five leading Democratic members of the House of Representatives think that Biden should run in his re-election campaign, US media reports.
This according to sources from within a digital meeting that minority leader Hakeem Jeffries had with the party’s top echelon on Sunday.
Five other members from the Democrats have already gone out earlier in the week and demanded that the president step down after the disastrous performance in the debate a little over a week ago.

As the counting of votes continues, thousands of French people have taken to the streets to have their say on the election results.
In most places, it seems to be going peacefully, according to BBC.
But in Nantes in western France, unrest has broken out, with riot police using tear gas.
Even in the Place de la Republique in Paris, the police have clashed with demonstrators. Photos show how a pile of bicycles was set on fire.
Before election night, 30,000 extra police officers had been called in to keep order on the streets.

Britain’s newly appointed Foreign Minister David Lammy traveled to Sweden on Sunday.
In Stockholm, the new foreign minister met his Swedish counterpart, Tobias Billström (M). At the meeting, the ministers discussed, among other things, defense cooperation and support for Ukraine.
“After my conversation with Foreign Minister Lammy, I am convinced that the conditions for continuing to deepen and develop cooperation with Great Britain are very good,” says Tobias Billström in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
David Lammy, who previously held ministerial posts in both Tony Blair’s and Gordon Brown’s governments, replaced conservative David Cameron as foreign secretary after Labour’s landslide victory in the UK general election on Friday.

A police operation is underway in Bagarmossen in southern Stockholm.
According to Aftonbladet’s information, there has been a shooting, but no one is said to have been injured.
A forest area has been cordoned off.
The police are tight-lipped about the operation, but say they are investigating a suspected serious crime.
– It is an ongoing operation, I cannot say anything more, says the police officer on duty.

Swedish Nobel laureate Bengt Samuelsson is dead, his relatives confirm to Aftonbladet. He lived to be 90 years old.
He died on Sunday after a long illness.
In 1982, Bengt Samuelsson received the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine together with Sune Bergström and the Briton John R. Vane – for discoveries concerning prostaglandins and related substances.
He has also been rector of Karolinska Institutet.

There is a fire in the terrain at Erikslund in Västerås, near a shopping centre.
The alarm came in shortly before 8 p.m.
For a while there was a high risk of spreading, but by 9 p.m. the fire was under control.
– The emergency services have set a forecast of a few hours, says the police officer on duty.
There are no reports of any injuries.
At 8 p.m., polling stations closed in the second round of the French parliamentary elections.
According to the polling station survey, the left-wing alliance NFP is the largest.
No group seems to get an absolute majority.
At 5 p.m., voter turnout was close to 60 percent – the highest in 43 years, according to France24.
The political situation is tense, and many fear violence during the evening. 30,000 extra police officers have been called into the country.

The police were alerted on Sunday evening about a fight outside in Norrköping.
– According to the alarm, there were about 20 people in a fight belonging to two equal groups. When we arrived at the scene, there were eight people left, says police spokesperson Rasmus Borgström.
– Two people were injured, one was taken to hospital by ambulance.
The extent of the damage is unclear.
The whole thing is currently classified as assault and serious assault. The police are looking for suspects.
The rescue service responded to a drowning alarm in Årjäng in Värmland at around 5:30 p.m.
– You have seen two people who have been fishing who have fallen into the water, says a team leader at SOS Alarm who is responsible for the rescue region Bergslagen, to NWT.
At 18.20, both people had been picked up from the water. The extent of the damage is unclear.

A major effort is underway at Södermalm in central Stockholm.
There is a fire in an apartment building. Police, ambulance and emergency services were alerted to the development of smoke shortly after 5 p.m.
– Several people are slightly injured, one person has been taken by ambulance to hospital, also slightly injured, says the police officer on duty.
A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital by ambulance after a motorcycle accident in Öjaby in Växjö.
The police and ambulance were dispatched at 4:30 p.m. following an alarm that the motorcycle driver had driven off the road.

Armed police patrol in groups in Paris – over thousands of extra officers have been called in. Several voters tell TT that they fear violence in the wake of the polarized French election.
In Paris, police officers walk in groups of three or four with their weapons visible. People on the streets shout different variations of “voter”, a call to vote, according to TT’s broadcaster.
According to French newspapers, several shops in the inner city have installed wooden boards to protect their shop windows for fear of riots when the election results are announced on Sunday evening.
— I hope that hate does not win. They will set fire to everything if the RN wins, says a man in his 60s outside a polling station in the capital’s ninth district.
The 75-year-old man who had gone missing in Hudiksvall has been found dead, the police write on their website.
The man disappeared from a nursing home on Saturday afternoon. A large search effort was launched with, among others, the Home Guard.
Police suspect no crime in connection with the death. Next of kin have been notified.
Panic and riots broke out during the Rath Yatra festival in the city of Puri in India.
400 people are reported to have been injured and one person is said to be dead.

Good question Bengt! And it’s probably not something I can answer, but a big difference between Sweden and the USA is that election day here is always a holiday, which at least makes it possible for more people to vote without having to take time off (if you don’t vote early then).
Why do you only answer ridiculous questions about pacifiers and sports, while respectfully dissing heavy topics that may be a bit sensitive and difficult to answer? 😡

I wouldn’t say we do, and when it came to the issue of pacifiers, it was a recall. So quite important information for parents.
Then it is not always the case that we can let all questions go through, e.g. those that contain serious violations or name publications that we ourselves have not made.
