A heavy fire has broken out in a building in Vallentuna, north of Stockholm.
Several gas cylinders in the building – and large cordons have been put in place due to the risk of explosion.
Police and the rescue service were called to a burnt-out building in an industrial area in Vallentuna on Thursday afternoon.
The emergency services will let the building burn down and the police have set up large cordons in the area.
– Since there are several gas cylinders in the building, it poses a risk of explosion, says Rebecka Landberg, spokesperson for the police.
“Don’t know if there are people left”
A VMA, an important message to the public, has been sent out in Mörby Rosendal in Vallentuna. The rescue leader urges everyone in the area to go indoors and close doors, windows and ventilation. People are also asked to stay away from the affected area.
There were people in the building when the fire broke out.
– We don’t know at the moment if there are people left, but several were able to get out quickly when the fire started, says Rebecka Landberg.
According to information to The evening paper witnesses have seen people set fire to the building. The police have opened a preliminary investigation into arson, but cannot confirm the information.
– Right now, the police’s focus is to block it off so that the emergency services can let the building burn down in a controlled manner. Then we will hold interviews with people in the area, and we want to do that as soon as possible, says Rebecka Landberg.
