During Sunday, there was a heavy fire in a barn in Järna outside Södertälje.
At the same time, the emergency services have fought a forest fire – near the barn.
MSB’s helicopters have participated in the extinguishing work.
Police and emergency services have been on the scene in Järna in Södertälje on Sunday due to a large fire in a barn.
– It is an extensive fire. There are 4,000 square meters on fire, Anders Sessler, regional operations leader at the rescue service, told TV4 Nyheterna in the afternoon.
The emergency services have got out cows that were in one of the barns that were on fire. There is no information that any person or animals have been injured in connection with the fire.
– We have four stations in place, it’s a big effort. We have drones in the air and ordered two helicopters from MSB to help us, Anders Sessler said.
Later in the evening, the rescue service announced that they only have one unit left on the scene, and that the helicopters have completed the operation in Järna.
Several units from the rescue service are instead working with a forest fire – which broke out near the barn. Three units are working to extinguish the fire, which is described by the rescue service as a “proper forest fire”.
Due to the development of smoke, train traffic in the area had to be stopped during the extinguishing work.
– We have been standing still at the central station in Stockholm for 1.5 hours, they have postponed the departure time twice already. It’s a bit difficult to know how to do it, said a traveler on the Snälltåget to Malmö that TV4 Nyheterna spoke to.
During the evening, traffic was able to start rolling again, albeit with long delays.
