A heavy fire broke out in an apartment building in Botkyrka south of Stockholm during the morning.
According to the emergency services, the fire started on a balcony and spread to the floor above.
– Two apartments are damaged by fire, says the duty officer of the rescue service, Sebastian Levin.
The emergency services were alerted at 1pm that there was a heavy fire in an apartment building in Hallunda in Botkyrka municipality.
– We have received a lot of calls about a heavy fire that originally started on a balcony, says the duty officer of the rescue service, Sebastian Levin.
The fire caused heavy smoke in the area and several people in the home were spontaneously evacuated. According to the rescue service, two apartments were damaged in the fire.
– The initial balcony fire spread to the balcony above and also into another apartment, says Sebastian Levin.
Investigating aggravated arson
Two people have suffered minor smoke damage and the police have launched a preliminary investigation into aggravated arson to investigate the circumstances behind the fire.
By 2:30 p.m. the fire was under control.
– We remain and do a check in case there has been any spread. But the situation is completely calm and we are starting to scale back the effort, says Sebastian Levin.
