Frenchman Julian Alaphilippe suffered a heavy fall in the final of the Circuit Het Nieuwsblad, Saturday February 24. The Soudal-Quick Step rider, however, got up after being caught in a fall with Kasper Asgreen, also involving his compatriot Florian Sénéchal, visibly injured in his collarbone. According to images from Belgian television, the three runners gave up. Alaphilippe, double world champion, is having a complicated week after being strongly criticized by his manager at Soudal, Patrick Lefevere. The Slovenian Jan Tratnik won the Circuit Het Nieuswblad, the opening race of the Flemish season, in the wind.
