A heavy downpour on Wednesday evening caused the emergency services to move out in several places in Västmanland. Among other things, the Korskyrkan’s basement in Västerås was temporarily flooded, and in Hallstahammar, one of the municipality’s training facilities on Eldsbodavägen received water through the roof.
– Right now there is a decimetre of rainwater in the room. It’s a pipe that has come loose. We are there and pump the water away, says Lena Hoffman, line operator at Rescue Center Mitt.
Parts of the Ring Road in Västerås were also partly under water and a viaduct under the E18, south of Svedvi church, was so flooded that the road had to be closed until all the water ran away.
The rainy weather has caused a minor landslide on E18, on the stretch between Folkparksmotet and Korsängsmotet in Västerås. One lane in the direction of Örebro is affected until 7:30 p.m., according to SOS Alarm.
