The London Airport Heathrow is closed as a result of a fire that caused a “extensive power outage”, writes in a message on its website.
“In order to maintain the safety of passengers and employees, Heathrow will be closed to and March 21 at 23.59,” the message states
Anyone who has booked flights from Heathrow with a planned departure on Friday is asked to contact the airline in question.
The fire broke out in a transformer station in west London late on Thursday evening and has left over 16,000 households without power, writes The Guardian.
