Now the heat washes over Sweden.
This week, a heat wave is expected with high summer temperatures of 30 degrees in large parts of the country.
– Take out the shorts, the sunglasses and the sun protection factor, says Peter Kondrup, meteorologist at TV4.
The high summer heat is on its way and this week temperatures of 30 degrees and sunshine are expected in large parts of the country.
During Sunday, an area of rain in the south moves away and a new one quickly moves in over northern Sweden. But already on Monday, a high pressure will start in the southern half of the country.
– Even then we can locally see temperatures above 25 degrees in parts of southern Sweden – and sun, says meteorologist Peter Kondrup.
General high summer heat
Another area of rain passes through northernmost Norrland during Tuesday. But the sun remains in the remaining parts of the country and the heat spreads and presses in from the south. Then the temperatures end up at 25 degrees all the way up to southern Norrbotten.
– Then there will be fairly general high summer heat, above 25 degrees, in southern and central Sweden, says Peter Kondrup.
Heat wave and annual high
On Wednesday, temperatures are expected to rise even more. In Central Sweden and Västernorrland it will be up to 30 degrees and around 28-29 degrees in the Stockholm area, among other places.
– There is a heat wave coming, says Peter Kondrup.
According to the meteorologist, a heat wave means that there has been high summer heat, i.e. temperatures above 25 degrees, five days in a row.
This week’s high summer temperatures also bring with it the hottest day of the year. The year’s highest temperature was measured in Osby in Skåne on June 1 when it was 29.4 degrees.
– It will hit now on Wednesday if not already on Tuesday, says the meteorologist.
Hold on
The warm air remains over Sweden for the rest of the month. With that, the heat and sunshine are expected to last through the week and into the beginning of next month.
– Take out the shorts, sunglasses and sun protection factor. And the one who is not a bathing pot, also the swimming trunks, says Peter.
During Thursday it will be a little cooler in the north of Sweden, but there will still be summer heat in the south.
