Temperatures are expected to reach over 40 degrees in several places in the UK on Monday, which in that case means a new heat record.

The national weather service Met Office has issued a “red warning” for extreme heat in large parts of England, reports the BBC. London is expected to be one of the warmest places in the world on Monday with temperatures higher than in the Caribbean.

The heat wave is expected to continue into Tuesday.

Some schools plan to close earlier due to the heat and a number of train departures have been canceled, according to the BBC.

The current British heat record, 38.7 degrees, was measured in 2019 in Cambridge.
